Art Matters/ Matters of Art?

2 weeks ago i had to meet my 'Art Matters' class at the Walters Museum in Bmore. If you're ever here, do not waste your time unless you have no money to do cooler things. This is the piece that captured my attention. I have to do a descriptive essay on this piece. This class bothers me because of the course title. Art Matters? Are they saying to the students that art matters? or are the ideas taught in this class are essential matters of art?

  1. I always thought that the class was a question about art history. Is it relevant? Why does it matter? I always wondered what would happen if we were not exposed to art and we created completely untainted by other artists. The Walters sucks, I agree.
