OK, so it's only been about 2 weeks now since I've been living in Baltimore, Murdaland but so far I'm adjusting to what the city has to offer. Last night for instance, me and some friends went to this huge warehouse club in the most desolate area. Seriously, all you could see are old factories and warehouses and some art school kids walking down these empty cobblestone streets. When we got inside, the party hadn't started yet. There had been rumors that Dan Deacon was going to do a set at this place but i herd from a friend he was there the night before. The first week i moved to Baltimore, i went to a party in this warehouse. I guess i just thought Dan Deacon is not gonna play a place like this. I barely know anything about him. But i just found he's from the Bodymore.
Anyways, we got there as they were still setting up. It was a huge space. boxes of pizza and Dan Deacon just chilling. I'm not one to be starstruck but this dude gave off such a different vibe from anyone else in that close of proximity. He was eating, hanging out-not taking himself too seriously at all. Which helped me loosen up a bit because in Chicago, if someone were to make an appearance in some small underground spot, not only would it be completely overwhelming but it'd bring out chi town's finest assholes. As cool as they look, most of the time they lack presence. Too cool to be in the midst of the crowd so they stand behind the dj set or some shit like that. Last night was absolutely nothing like that at all! It was a party/dj set-whatever. it was fun and intimate. And it's good some musicians; no matter how famous, maintain that mentality. it makes it so much fun. We're all just people, suffering in sweaty smoked up rooms for music and to dance. Not to mention Dan Deacon and everyone else who performed had sick ass sets. I'm really glad i went out. Baltimore is treating me well.
If you guys don't know who Dan Deacon is, check him out. I wish i could've gotten pics but no camera for right now. But I will post pics up here soon. It's all in effect.
(The pic of him is not from last night)
